June 18 2024 Fishing Report

**Lower Sac**

The river is opening up with hatches of PMDs, sallies, stones, and caddis. When the bugs are active, so is the fishing. The bite has been good from the top to Balls. We really enjoy mixing it up and trying different techniques in different floats. We’re finding fish in the traditional deep runs and into the shallows. Mixing it up is the name of the game and makes it more fun. Evening floats have started to pick up and will continue to produce dry fly fishing opportunities and the traditional nymph rigs.

**Hat Creek/Baum Lake**

Hat Creek has been fishing well to great. As always, skill level plays a role on this frequently visited stretch of water. That said, beginners shouldn’t be deterred. Baum Lake and Powerhouse #2 are great places to get acquainted with the area, and you're always just a short drive or walk to a picky fish or challenging piece of water. That's been the program up there currently. PMD spinner falls followed by a small hatch to start the days. Stones, sallies, and caddis are often mixed in. We are seeing a bunch of yellow sallies, salmon flies, and golden stones from late afternoon to dark. If your willing to skip dinner, this is an amazing evening fishery!

 **Pit River**

The Pit River has been producing phenomenal fishing. There has been very light fishing pressure. The weather has been hot so wet wading has been the ideal choice to keep the body cool while getting bent up. Tight lining, indicator, or dry dropper has been producing bent rods. Pick whatever one you are more comfortable with and stick to it. Hit every pocket you see and there should be a fish eating eagerly to eat your nymph of choice.

**Fall River**

The Fall River has been fishing great, if you can master feeding line and getting a good down stream dead drift. If you're willing to master feeding line, you should be able to get plenty of opportunities at hooking these wild Fall River rainbows! The Early morning trico spinner fall has been very fun tossing size 18 dries to pods of rising fish. PMDS also later in the day can produce good dry fly fishing. Nymphing though has been the most productive at getting fish to the net. The famous HEX hatch has started and if your willing to stay out Late, it as an amazing hatch to see!

**Upper Sac**

The Upper Sac, Above Shasta lake, is finally back to being able to fish it! after a long spring run off of battling high water, we are finally back to flows we can fish throughout the entire system. Remember, this river has 38 miles of access. A nice river to escape crowds. There are a lot of stoneflies flying around and we have been having fun throwing big dries and getting a lot of eats and aggressive takes.

**McCloud River**

I hate to say it, but we might lose this river any day, if not as I am typing this report. McCloud res has muddied up again and will reach the river any day now. What an amazing spring we have had on the Mccloud and I am bummed to say it might be over until fall again. We are used to this being the new normal every year. Book you spring dates now for next year or fall dates.

What to Look Forward To:

**Summer Program**

The Redding heat turns up the fishing, and we know the best program for both the fishing and us. We’ll be running a "Beat the Heat and Stay Bent" special from July 1 - August 15 for $1,250. This includes an evening half-day trip, one night’s stay at the Sheraton, and a morning half-day trip. The stay at the Sheraton includes free parking, internet, breakfast, and access to the club level. Let’s hit the water during the summer prime times!
